Top Tip -Any teachers going to Europe this summer be sure to bring a teachers registration card or similar. Some sights/attractions offer a discount on admission tickets to teachers. Note though that its very random !

For French flea market addicts – check out these websites: videgreniers.org, info-brocantes.com, brocabrac.fr

Travelling to Poland? Get the best rates to convert to zlotys at the Post bank. Otherwise check several ‘kantors’ as prices vary widely.

If you are searching for good holiday deals online try the ‘local’ version of the website. You may be surprised at the price difference. I did this recently for France and the ‘.fr’ version was cheaper.

For checked in bags, pack as though you expect the bag to be lost. Leave anything you would hate to lose at home. Put your contact details inside the bag in case the label is torn off in handling. It will make it easier to track it.

If there is no room safe where you are staying on your holidays and you don’t want to bring your passport out with you try putting it in a bag hidden amongst your ‘used’ laundry, or tape it to the underneath of a locker, etc.

A lot of hotels throughout Europe are banning the use of irons in hotel rooms, especially in Italy.  So either pack carefully or bring a travel iron !

Just found out today that if you get a mosquito bite on your travels, heat a spoon and press it against the bite to stop the itch and calm it down.

Bring bubble wrap or paper to protect your purchases at flea markets. The stall holders often don’t have any.

When visiting ‘vide-greniers’, ‘troc et puces’ and ‘brocantes’ have plenty coins as often the stall holders won’t have change of even 5€.
