Confusion in Cascais

Had an ‘interesting’ day trying to travel by bus to Sintra from Cascais.  First the map indicated that the bus station was beyond the shopping centre , Cascais Villa. No its not! Having flagged down a passing local (with no english), she led me by my arm (really) to under said centre. The ticket office is hidden in a corner to confuse tourists which I only found by asking another helpful local. Having explained my plan for the day I was told an all inclusive ticket would be cheaper.    ( I know what you are thinking). Once in Sintra my ‘all inclusive’ ticket was no use so jumped in a taxi. On the return trip we sat at a bus stop with our route number on it and realised that it was a looped route going nowhere near Cascais.  We made it back eventually and hit the vinho tinto! Conclusion – Portuguese people are really helpful, taxis thankfully cheap, wine plentiful and travel needs a laid back approach. A local told me today when the electrics in our house blew from having the kettle and washing machine on together that things move slowly in Portugal!
